ART Management in TB/HIV co-infection, Part 1

TB and HIV are strongly linked. There is a 19 times increased risk of developing active TB in people living with HIV than in HIV-negative people with Sub-Saharan Africa being the hardest hit region. Early initiation of ART reduces mortality among TB/HIV co-infected patients, which informs recommendations on starting ART for all HIV positive patients as soon as possible.
